I think I'm going to need to start looking at renting storage space pretty soon, though! Can you donate clothes that are never going to be used? We have basic garments that we can always wear, and what is behind the “I have nothing to wear” is that we are bored with the same thing and always want something new, to look different and change.

The bag will be able to fit more clothes and reduce crease size. More classic pieces I am willing to invest more in, so they last longer. My trendy pieces never last very long (simply because I get rid of them) and are usually not very expensive. But also, if I get bored with something. Usually when something goes out of style, or I don't like it anymore, Cappuccino I'll get rid of it.
Honestly, the oldest thing in my closet is probably 8-9 years old at most and it's my first pair of high end jeans, Paper Denim and Cloth (when they first came out). I tend to buy classics rather than trend items and I generally buy quite expensive well-made pieces that last for years. I love rediscovering pieces and falling in love with them all over again!
Outerwear lasts the longest for me, and I have wool coats that are over 10 years old. 8 years ago that still look the same as when i bought them. Most consignment stores won't accept clothing that's more than two years old, so keep that timeline in mind when selecting pieces to donate. My classic pieces I tend to invest in and make sure they are well made and I try to treat them well too.

Sorry for the OT but Cfellis, your CLs in your avatar are stunning! May I ask what they are? It may seem silly: why do we let our brains be hijacked by a to-do list? You may want things to stay the same in your life. If there is something you want to add, like shelves or box organizers, plan where to put them.
Drop-front shoe boxes are ideal if you want to keep your shoes dust-free and in shape. The question with rolling is, are you going to be the type of person that rolls them?
