I added functional, decorative boxes inside the cubbies to make the area look more put together and to corral the clothes better. The design is so sleek and it makes your earrings look like art! I like these sturdy drawer dividers that I found at the Container Store because they’re linen, nice and strong, and fit perfectly inside my drawers.
Rounding the corner is more Amazon (I really like my Amazon finds!) skirts, pants, vests, and jackets. Take the bottom end of the shirt and fold it up so that it touches the bottom corner of the folded sleeves. Fold the fitted sheet, then the top sheet, and wrap them inside a pillowcase to keep every set neat and together. I used to hang my jeans, but since I have the space, I find it easier to fold them and put them on a shelf.
Since I clear space where more hanging clothes could be stored, I use that shelf for jewelry storage. Additionally, it’s very affordable and can be easily customized to fit your space. If you find clothing that fits one of the reasons above, it’s time to get rid of them! I use that extra closet mainly as a “working closet” to hold new clothing orders and items for the dressing room posts I share with you.
Once the clothes have been folded and placed inside, cover the top layer of clothing with packing paper. ’t remember what items you have put in each of them. Mine don’t fit well on my shoe shelves, which is why I put them above the hanging clothes. Go through the steps from the previous session, but don’t put your keepers away just yet. Last year, everything I wore something, I put it on a black hanger.
The velvet material also keeps your clothes from slipping off the hanger. I’ve been fond of these thin velvet hangers because they double the room inside your closet! You can also do this by turning your hangers the opposite direction. Pants and other bottoms are more versatile than tops in how they can be stored. I also use the children’s hangers to hang skirts and pants.
By the end of the year, I took a hard look at all of the things on white hangers and decided weather to donate or keep those things. Following are some recommendations:Dress Boots: Every man should own at least one pair of dress boots that helps them look their best. Using this quick list of 3 dressers under $200 will give you a clear idea of what dressers work best and then you can choose one for your room.
You can also DIY a skirt hanger using a plastic hanger and a couple of clothespins or clips. I’ve used this wooden tie rack as a hanger for my necklaces for years! I struggled with them for a couple of years. The shoe shelves (where the jeans are) were designed to hold about 50 pairs of shoes and, several years ago, I had that many, and more. This gold jar came with a Tory Burch candle I bought many, many years ago.
I think I found that gold foil bowl at Homegoods and the 8-inch marble tray is from Amazon. The next section is all Amazon. So much more that I had additional shoe shelves installed (to the right where the boots are)! These bugs infest your closet because they are attractive to human odor and prefer dark places. Is there a way to make a closet organizer? Here’s another acrylic organizer that said it was intended to hold makeup.
Our master bedroom DIY closet organizer includes a plywood closet system and shelves with baskets. The shelves behind the door hold snow and rain boots in the top two shelves. My two suitcases are also in there. Next up are cardigans, long sleeve tees and tops, then blouses. I start with tanks, then tees, long sleeve tops, sweaters/sweatshirts and blouses. To declutter your closet, start by getting rid of anything that you don’t wear or use anymore.
They hang on to their smaller outfits, thinking that one day they will lose the weight and get to wear these outfits again. It’s really interesting to see what you wear (on repeat) and what you never wear! If an item is stained, ripped, moth eaten, stretched out, or faded, it’s time to put it in the toss pile. I put them in boxes and stash them out of sight either in my closet or in another part of the house entirely.
You can use a tent house to get some real fun out there in the living room. Prefer to have someone walk you through organizing every room of your house? On the bright side, I have a second walk-in closet now. If I ever lose that second closet, I could make this one closet work, but it sure is nice for now!
